Bound maroon cloth with gilt lettered and decorated spine, moroon spine cloth color is faded, deckle page edges, woodcut initial letters; small (less than ? inch) tears in spine ends and starting to fray, exlib copy with both white and black pen call numbers on spines, library stamp & discard stamp on endpapers and verso of title, library date due slips & pockets on rear endpapers. volume 1 with a damp stain on front cover and endpapers with resulting warping of front cover, pencil underlining in the index at the back of the final volume. 12 volumes with 265-300pp per volume. Includes index of texts, index of sermons, and list of contributors. Contents includes outlines, illustrations and complete sermons by 210 contributors, primarily 19th century with some early 20th century.

He was a popular devotional writer and author of thirty-one hymns. "The mind of Jesus! What a study is this! To attain a dim reflection of it, is the ambition of angels--higher they cannot soar. "To be conformed to the image of His Son!"--it is the end of God in the predestination of His Church from all eternity. "We shall be like Him!"--it is the Bible picture of heaven!"--page ii.
