The author reviews French church history from the beginnings illustrating that the French Catholic church has always been somewhat independent of Rome. He then discusses the Separation of Acts of 1906, which "assures, in France, the liberty of conscience and guarantees the free practice of religions, subject only to the restrictions in the interest of public order. It declares that the Republic neither recognizes nor subsidizes any religion, and will, after January 1, 1906, omit from the budget all expenses connected with the practice of religions..." He wonders at the in Americans who are demonstrating against the French law, and closes with a resolution to the Reformed Churches in France that was adopted by the Western Section of the Exec. Comm. of the Alliance of Reformed Churches. With this pamphlet is a sheet, printed one side titled "The Religious Situation in France." The sheet along with Prime's comments publishes an anonymous letter to Prime in response to his speech. The writer of the letter addresses Prime thus: "Prime, You Turkey-Buzzard, Pin Head. don't you know that the Roman Catholic church will live and be triumphal. when you and your reform fools are ded and forgotten. and also when your old rotten body has rotted in its grave. M. Briand, U.P. P.S. You may meet me sooner or later."
