John Scott (1777-1834) Vicar of North Ferriby, Incumbent of St. Mary's and Lecturer in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Hall, was a son of Thomas Scott, the commentator. We offer Scott's objections to Richard Mant's Two Tracts Intended to Convey Correct Notions of Regeneration and Conversion. Also included are Scott's remarks on Richard Laurence's remarks on this baptismal controversy. According to Bickersteth as quoted by Allibone, Mant's work is ""an objectionable work,"" and that Biddulph and Scott ""in the main satisfactorily reply to Mant.""
